Paul Finlay BSc (Hons) has worked in the building industry for 20 years and has been personally involved with the construction of over 1,000 new homes.
Starting his career following a Bachelors Degree in Construction Management working for McCarthy & Stone as an Assistant Quantity Surveyor. Following on from McCarthy’s, Paul embarked on forming his own building company and produced several high value houses for clients and the open market.
Paul then worked for another national house-builder Linden Homes, then returned to the retirement sector working for Churchill Retirement Living. Paul enjoyed those years and learnt a lot quickly, but wanted to learn more than just Quantity Surveying and Commercial Management. Paul’s ambition was to learn about building methods, land, planning and sales so joined a smaller company, Willton Homes.
At Willton Homes Paul was instrumental in successfully growing their business threefold in 4 years, growing from 15 houses a year to 45. Paul was responsible for the day to day running of the business and this gave him the confidence to start Finlay Homes.
Paul was responsible for site acquisition, gaining planning permissions, delivering projects to completion as well as personalising houses to customers requirements.
Paul is also working towards gaining RICS accreditation in his spare time.
